The Dresden Files

I was in the book store about two months ago.  I was looking for a new book, anything that would grab my attention really.  I headed over to the Sci-Fi section to check out the Star Wars books.  I liked the movies and I wanted to get into the Star Wars universe a little more.  The question was, what book do I start with.  I did get some advice from Jay about what series to start with…now what was that name???  I looked to my left and there it was…Full Moon.  It was the second book in the Dresden Files series.  It is about werewolves and a wizard…good stuff.  I’m crazy about monsters…in particularly vampires and werewolves.  Good stuff.  As a kid I went crazy over vampire books, stories, and Legends.  Ahhh…innocent youth.

Anyway…The Dresden Files is a book series by Jim Butcher.  It’s about a Wizard, Harry Dresden, who lives in Chicago.  He is the only Wizard listed in the yellow pages.  He works as a private investigator to pay the bills.  I think these books are fantastic and I highly recommend them to anyone.  Think Harry Potter grown up, in the real world, and sarcastic as hell.  These books are written very well and will keep you wanting to read more.  I read Full Moon in the span of two days.  It was the first one I read, but no the first in the series.  That’s right, lets start a book series by skipping the first one.  What can I say…I like werewolves.

After reading that book, I was hooked.  I then went on to Amazon.com and ordered 4 more.  They are fantastic books. They make you want to read on and on.  That is if you are looking for a story that portrays magic and things that go bump in the night as real, logical things.  If you hated Harry Potter because you thought he was for kids, you will not be disappointed with the Dresden Files.

I didn’t want to tell too much of the story because I wanted it to be taken in without spoilers, because I’m pretty sure I would let a couple slip.
